Best random experience of the year.

So this morning I woke up at 8:00 to someone banging o my door. You know when you're half asleep and something happens, you think it's part of your dream. Well that's how I was this morning. The banging stopped, so I rolled over to go back to sleep. When it started up again I knew I wasn't dreaming. So I got up, wrapped my blanket around me, and went to open up the door. It's a pretty scary feeling to open your door and find a police officer standing on your porch. My first thought was, "Oh no, what did I do wrong?!?!?!" Then he asked for my roommate. Another disconcerting feeling. So I invited him to come in while I went to wake up Chandra. (It was snowing and cold outside.) Sadie told me when I opened their door all she was thinking was, "I hope it's not for me." So I woke up Chan and told her there was an officer wanting to talk to her. Her first thought was, "Someone hit my car!!!" Turns out that her mom was worried. Apparently Chandra texted her mom last night and said she wasn't feeling so good and her mom didn't answer so she just went to bed. This morning her mom tried calling her, (don't ask me why her mom was trying to get a hold of her at six in the morning, Chan never gets up earlier than ten.) Chan was still asleep so her mom left her a message and told her that if she didn't call back soon she was gonna call the cops. It's nice to know there's someone you can send to check on people. It was a little nerve wracking though. After the officer left our neighbors came over to see what was going on. That's probably how it's gonna be all day. I'm sure everyone saw the police car in the parking lot and are wondering what we did to be in that much trouble. Anyway, kind of random. Waking up to a cop banging on your door. Doesn't happen everyday. :)

Shopping

So I recently, as of today, decided I should not be allowed to go into stores anymore. In trying to find something for pictures on Saturday, I found plenty of things I did not need. :) And of course it's not any easier when they are all screaming at me, "Michelle, take me home!!!". I just decided it's no fun to go shopping when you don't have money, which pretty much describes every single time I have gone shopping. Boo. Oh well. I found a few very cute shirts and I did find something for Saturday so all in all, it was a very successful day. :)

Winter Wonderland

It's Winter!!!

Okay so it doesn't really look like this outside but I wasn't able to get a picture before most of the snow melted. It snowed yesterday and I was super excited. My roommates weren't as happy about the snow as I was. Elena absolutely does not like snow and Sadie and Chandra are from Logan so they see a lot more snow than I do. When I woke up this morning I kinda forgot that it had snowed, so when I looked out the window I expected to see that it was another warm Autumn day but instead I saw a world covered in white. :) It made me happy. But now all the snow is melting and we probably won't see any for another month. Boo. That's pretty much what happened last year. I sure hope we get more though, and keep getting more. I love snow. :)

All done :)

Yeah!!! I just registered for classes next semester and now I'm all set to graduate in April. :) Since I have almost all my credits I was able to register one of the first days. So, I got all the classes I wanted! (and needed) I am a little nervous cause I'm taking 17 credits next semester and that just sounds busy. Oh well, it's either that or stay another semester, and I'm ready to leave Snow. Don't get me wrong, I love it here, I'm just ready to be done. Then it's on to bigger and better things..........................right?

Halloween!!!

So this year I didn't dress up. Well I didn't last year either but I thought about it this year. However I did find the costume I want to make for next year. Of course I will change a few things, but this is the general idea.

I did carve a pumpkin though. Trevor came over for the weekend and we carved pumpkins for our date. It was fun. :) Michael let two of his precious pumpkins go. Thanks Michael. :) I haven't carved pumpkins for a few years. Trevor cut the hole in the top of his too small so we had to light the candle through the mouth.

Back to School

So classes started today. I've only been to one class so far and my day is going pretty well. I moved into my brand new remodeled apartment on Friday and met all of my roommates. I got lucky again this year. They are all really nice girls, and so far we've gotten along pretty well. Sadie and Chandra are Freshmen and Elena is a Sophomore but this is her first year away from home. I was really excited to move back this year because they just remodeled two of the apartments and I got one of them. It's actually the same one I had last year. It's really nice. I'll have to post a few pictures sometime. One of the downsides is that, since all the walls are new we can't put nails in the wall. Boo. Oh well, I didn't want to be the first one to put a hole in the wall anyway.

Memorial Day Weekend

I got to go to Kousin's and help out for memorial day this year. We were way busy with all the usual orders plus some new ones. In addition to all that they also had three funerals to do which heightened the insanity quite a bit.

Aunt Debbie called and ordered an arrangement for Cami and they let me do that one. I really enjoyed it and I think it turned out really pretty.

Today I got home and picked a bunch of flowers to put on Grandpa and Grandma's grave. First I walked around our yard and Michael's and Audrey's yard to see what flowers I had to use. It turned out well too. I was glad there were some red peonies I could put in for Grandma.

I took them up to the cemetery and had to take pictures of course. It looked so pretty with all the flowers everywhere. It's fun to look around and be able to tell which are the ones that I made.

PBL - State Competition

This last weekend we had State PBL in Ogden. There were about sixteen out of our group to go compete. It was a lot of fun. Since the drive to Ogden is so long, and we had to be there by 9:30, a few of us drove up to Pleasant Grove Thursday night and then to Ogden Friday morning. I competed in all of my events Friday morning. So for three hours straight I was taking tests. Stacee had me compete in Word Processing, which was good with me cause I took a class on it and I knew what I was doing. Then she signed me up for Marketing Concepts and Information Management, both of which I had no clue what I was doing, so they were complete guesses. So at the awards assembly on Saturday I was surprised when they called me up to get an award in Information Management. I took sixth in that and Word Processing. Everyone in my group place at least once. It was lots of fun and I'm really looking forward to next years competition.

Wedding Flowers

At the beginning of the semester my roommate got engaged, and she asked me to do her flowers. I was nervous and excited. She went up north and got a bunch of flowers and then she decided she wanted calla lilies for her boquet, so we found these at walmart. I finished her bouquet, her little sister's, and the throw bouquet. Her's is definately my favorite.

Sweetheart Dance

About a month ago was the sweetheart dance. It was girls choice so i asked Trent Eliason. We planned on going skating but it was a little too warm. So instead we played a couple of games and then had dinner. After eating we all got ready, picked up the guys, then went to the dance. It was a lot of fun. We all thought it was kind of funny that all but three of our group were from Delta. We all had a great time though.

This week's blocks

We made this block on Tuesday. I really like it.

I made this one today. It was kind of tough. I thought it turned out pretty good

I love this one. I made this one today too. At first I was nervous about using these fabrics together but then I love how it turned out.

Patterns

So i was at Walmart the other day and I was looking at some patterns. I found these and i really like them. Now I just need to make them, that's the challenging part. I'm a little scared to try. I'm not very good at sewing clothes. I start them and then they end up being mom's project and then it makes me feel really bad. So hopefully i can do these. We'll see.

Combination Star

So here is my latest block. For this assignment we had to draw up the pattern and figure out the measurements ourselves. This one is called the combination star. I kind of like it. It's not my favorite block, but I think it's kind of pretty.

A few more blocks

So sorry I haven't posted any of these. Our internet goes in and out all the time. So here are the last three i've done. They were a lot of fun to do.
This is my nine-patch block. It was really fun to do and really easy.

This is my pinwheel. It was exciting to do.
I love this one. This is the bear paw. It was definately harder to do but it was fun. I think it's so pretty!!!

Log Cabin

So yesterday I made my first log cabin block. I have four here because they are only six and a half inch blocks. The ones for our quilts are supposed to be twelve. I decided to save mine and mix them with a couple of other blocks we'll be making. They were really fun to do and really easy. I'm getting more and more excited about this class. I'm really excited to see what my quilt ends up like.

Quilt!

So I am taking a quilting class at school and of course I had to buy my fabric. When I went I had no idea what to get cause I've never bought fabric for a quilt without mom. The lady at the fabric shack was very nice and very helpful. So this is what I ended up with. I think they are really pretty.

This is my first block. When I cut the fabric I wasn't sure I was gonna like how it looked but I love it. They all went together very well. I have to make 16 blocks all together for my quilt. She teaches us a new one everyday in class so I'll have another one on Thursday. I'm excited to see how my quilt turns out. :)
